COVID-19 Health & Safety

Members who wish to end their enrollment in a CommuniCare Advantage health plan may only end their membership during certain times of the year, known as enrollment periods. All members have the opportunity to leave the plan during the Annual Enrollment Period and during the annual Medicare Advantage Disenrollment Period. In certain situations, you may also be eligible to leave the plan at other times of the year.

  • If you have a chronic health condition that is not a focus of this CommuniCare Advantage plan, you have an opportunity to switch to a different plan that focuses on that condition.
  • If you are part of the ISNP and live in a nursing facility, you have what’s called an open enrollment period for institutionalized individuals (OEPI) that allows you to disenroll to access another plan, including Original Medicare, at any time. If you are no longer living in a nursing facility, you will no longer qualify for our plan, and CMS will provide a special election period for you to change plans.

If you have any questions or would like more information on when you can end your membership, call us at the contact information below between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. ET seven days a week October 1 – March 31 (8 a.m. to 8 p.m. ET Monday through Friday April 1 – September 30). If you have a complaint, you can complain to Medicare.
